I have used my old GPS 12 to help my dog. He absolutely refused to use the deck to relieve himself. If we were fog bound I would select a likely place on the beach and enter a waypoint. I would also enter a MOB position for the boat. Then I could run him in with the dinghy , let him have some liberty and get back out to the boat. It kept him comfortable and gave us piece of mind. Our current dog hasn't made up her mind about this yet, but we are encouraging her to go on deck. This is also handy for going back and forth to a dinghy dock.

Also when running the Ditch I will enter the location of the next bridge I have to open. With the same GPS 12 I can adjust my speed to arrive about 10 minutes before the scheduled opening and not have to mill about in a crowd with cross winds and current.
