Yeah ....

I have the paper charts and most likely don't pay much attention to Bauhaus' waypoints prefering to eyeball most of the places we went. Yet I'm sure you guys moved more often then we did. I rarely if ever "followed" his waypoints But we did generally lazily follow many of his routes. Don't know that I ever took the waypoints from his book and input them into a charting program. Yeah, I'm mostly concerned with Navionics as that's the program I threw some money at. And I mentioned a French cruiser who we casually met in Sapzurro that had much more accurate European charts of that coastal area, more accurate then any of the others I've seen.

As for GE, I just checked out the place I've been complaining about (Isla Pinos) and it is..... rather clear!

My point is that if one is expected to pay money to a commercial company then I personally expect to have a product that will be adequate. The Navioinics progam IMHO isn't adequate in the Panama area. Maybe when we get to the Pacific and S. American I'll check it out and let people know. Saying that the other charts aren't any better doesn't release Navionics from providing a quality product. After all they do brag "and continues to be a leader in quality, coverage and value" If their product would allow the importation of charts then the program could be evaluated and stand on it's own, but since you have to use their charts with their program then I'm of the belief I've a valid complaint. If they added something of cartographic quality to the charts rather than just repackage poor governmental commercial charts then I wouldn't be saying what I've been saying.

If you wish to accept the crappy quality of "commercial" charts then that's ok. If you wish to spend more money on them then that's ok by me. Maybe with the monies you spend, they'll put some into making their product better. I kind of doubt that. There are not that many chart formats for any company that they couldn't now days add the code to parse out various chart formats and display them.

BTW I've not noticed the Navionics guy responding back on this site. And to clarify I've not received anything from Navionics in the form of money or free products and I've not even received the support I would have expected from them for a program that wasn't working! And I'm not looking for anything free, just a quality product.

Navionic's wants to grab me buy the jewels and I'm not wishing to let go of mine yet! Or should I say anymore!
