My boat points better than many cruising monohulls, and we sail as high as 30-degrees apparent before it becomes detrimental (to VMG) to point higher. But this year we connected the heading sensor to our chart-plotter and since then it shows 2 projected course lines: one for heading and the other for COG.
Seeing graphically on-screen how current and leeway cause the COG to differ from heading is pretty remarkable sometimes.
