It's an old Simpson Lawrence 510 S-L Hyspeed double action manual windlass.

In fact I don't think the clutch works properly for letting out rode... I tend to pay it out by hand and use the non gypsy side as a winch like brake.

The lever action works well though, it just takes a bit patience and a lot of back and forth action to lift the chain and anchor off the bottom... even with a huge load of kelp.

One of these days I will no doubt either have to rebuild it or get something new. But it serves my current need.

I do have the manual for it, but it really doesn't cover all that much. And I understand that Lewmar now owns SL... and they list my lever action windless as "obsolete."
