We get these wicked spikes of wattage in our household.

You'll notice in that screen shot of the energy manager, the huge spike at 12 noon? Water heater! It was a late morning and everybody took showers and even a bath that day! Our water heater is a standard issue 50 gallon. We have a clothes dryer but use a rack instead, most of the time. Other big users that day would be cooking appliances but our main cooking is propane.

It's great to see your actual hourly usage. A next investment for us will be a hybrid water heater. But I have some problems for installation. They give off some cool air so their savings can be offset if you have to make up that heat. And we have a real water hog, an old 6' claw foot bath tub that drains the storage tank. Unfortunately, it's quite popular.
