I just had one of my Home Depot early adopted Ecosmart PAR 38 LED down lights die on me. That model has been discontinued. The return desk started to argue because I had purchased it two years ago. Umm.. the package here says the warranty is five years. Yes, sir, you'll have to return it to the manufacturer. Um.... the package says that Home Depot is the manufacturer. A supervisor showed up and I got a full refund. The old 120 watt equivalent bulb used 24 watts, my new replacement uses 19 watts for similar output.

I've been holding out for Energy Star ratings and whenever possible a Color Rendering Index of 90+. Cree seems to do best in that department. My new 3,000 kelvin downlight has a 80 CRI which appears quite acceptable. It's another 5 year warranty Ecosmart. I saved the packaging and receipt!
