Far too often these days I am seeing the work I do sent offshore... and the only available work seems to be in San Jose or Redmond, Wa. (either of which would also mean moving)

I have enough equity in my So Cal home to buy a home outright in some other areas of the country, and enough savings to retire, if I don't pay a mortgage... so I'm thinking of retiring and moving.

I'm 59 and figure there has to be something beyond punching that darn clock everyday, worrying about deadlines that some program manager set with a dartboard. (I can't begin to tell you the number of times I have been asked how long it would take to do a project, only to have the time cut by 25-50%... with no more resources added.)

We have relatives up in the Pac northwest...

So now the other questions come up... sell the boat, ship it or move it.
