The study concluded that counties with a high consumption of animal-based foods in 1983–84 were more likely to have had higher death rates from "Western" diseases as of 1973–75, while the opposite was true for counties that ate more plant foods"
In the end, every county (or country) has the same death rate -- 100%. We all die in the end. Did they mean to say "deaths at a younger age"?
I'm not knocking your diet -- I have no way to judge the science -- I just wish people would make clearer statements. Otherwise I get a teeny suspicion they are trying to pull something over me.
Oh, and in the hair-splitting department, calcium is not a base. A base is an aqueous solution that has a predominance of hydroxyl (OH-) ions. Calcium is indeed present in bases. Calcium compounds (of which bone is one) are susceptible to dissolution in acids (as coral is susceptible to dissolving if seawater becomes acidified). So -- does acid in your bloodstream dissolve your bones? I'm sure it's not quite that simple.
