In my book, early 60’s is a great age for unlimited sailing and you just go and do it!! If you look at my “Sailing Yacht Aliza” Facebook page you will notice that my crew on the last Atlantic crossing had one 72 YO, One 67 YO and two late 50’s (with me at 60 we had an avg age of 62!!!)
I too took an early retirement package from a similar job (Strategist at HP) and did it to go sailing full time. I am 60 now, just finished sailing my Sailing Yacht Aliza from NYC to Israel last summer, I am working right now on getting Aliza back to the Caribbean on my way to the Pacific where I hope to to the "milk run". (For more details about Aliza's build and first circumnavigation go to WWW.Aliza.TalkSpot.COM)
I think (Hope ) that I have at least 10 additional years of worldwide (i.e. ocean crossing / no limits sailing) before I set my targets on less challenging coastal sailing for another 10 years. (By then I’ll be ready for peaceful canal sailing in Europe )
