We had a few places practically to ourselves

Our cruise had Labor Day weekend right in the middle. We were at NEH Friday and Saturday and there were LOTS of open moorings/floats. Only one other boat in the anchorage with us at Merchant Row. Snow Island, Quahog Bay, maybe five other boats.

Between the economy, and so many pulling out early for Irene, it was sad.

Interestingly, NEH jacked up the mooring fees (for everyone except those of us in the cheap seats) but still had the same old tired yachtsman's building. The lady working there was the same one we talked to last year (we all remembered each other). She recounted how last year, she had told us the building was about to be torn down and replacee but it never happened. Now it's supposed to be replaced this coming fall. We'll see. As quaint as it is, the place needs a ton of work. The showers are cramped, old, and have almost no water pressure whatsoever. Kind of defeats the purpose of having the building there to begin with.
