Belfast is trying hard. They're competing with Camden, Rockport, and Rockland. Rockland being the major working port; while Rockport and Camden are more upscale locations. Belfast's City Marina isn't luxurious: It's not nice or "new" as Rockland's marinas; it's not going to be Camden's Wayfarer (ever, with a very good yard and level of service); and, Belfast isn't a upper crust as Rockport. However, the service is friendly, the marina just down the way from the center of town, and the prices are not crazy. The leaders of Belfast clearly see the marina and harbor as an economic development engine which is a magnet. They are trying.
We were glad to go there. We'll probably go back. I wouldn't stay three days there instead of going other places while cruising; but it's only because there are so many wonderful choices up there in Penobscot Bay and the islands at its mouth.
