This season, several marina managers in Maine, Mass, and RI all confirmed that:
I've heard similar reports this season.
The marinas were crying -- they lost the last and major weekend income
And municipal harbors will get heat from taxpayers to raise rates.
We noticed a lot of empty private moorings in Somesville at peak season
Hinckley is good news. This recession has skipped some zip codes.
Friends just had a major refit done to their Island Packet by Front Street.

I've never found anything in the NY metro area that didn't cost more than anywhere on the east coast.

Anchoring - with some restrictions - is still permitted in Nantucktet, as far as I know...
We didn't get there this season but paid 55 for a mooring last.
