But those of us that anchor are in the minority I think. I sometimes wonder myself what a mooring fee is based on. Every ball is different in what it costs someone to lease out. As mentioned, some have great amenities, good facilities onshore, some have launches, some have free wifi, and some have nothing outside of not having to use and anchor.

We took quite a few (for our norm) on our last visit, and none were over 35/ for our 38' boat. Some were reduced due to the late season.

The only places we haven't anchored around Cape Cod because there was no option, is Menemsha, inside the little harbor. There are only a few harbors in Maine that I can think of where a mooring is your only option. We've even anchored inside Newport Harbor for several days(not sure we're supposed to).
