... can they actually restrict you from anchoring in a harbour ? Or any place else for that matter ? How can they do that ? So if we go cruising in Maine, and we see a nice protected spot, could it be there are restrictions that prevent us from anchoring there ? Is the reason only because it provides fee income for the town or a private enterprise, or is there another valid reason ? I certainly understand the various reasons like you mention why one would chose to take a ball, but I didn't think a municipality or the Harbor Master could prevent you from anchoring where there are mooring balls. WOW, unlike the Bahamas, where you can anchor anywhere you want, any time, and for as long as you want. The only place I can think of there is Hopetown Harbour, but I'm not 100% you can not anchor in there. cheers, John
