What the heck, though, is a plant based meal?

More veggies, spuds, brown rice and arsenic, arroz and frijoles? We've lived on small portions of meat for decades but I confess, I eat better on the boat.

THere is SO much conflicting advice on eating. At 66 I'm supposed to be eating more protein, not less, as seniors need more protein. Having many food allergies I eat a LOT of brown rice, very little white rice save for sushi of which I'm very fond, but no grains for me. Seeds like quinoa, buckwheat, stuff like that makes up a lot of my diet as well as brown rice. I go out daily with that French gal, Olivia d'Oyl, I'm supposed to get six tbsp a day of her according to sources.......................and so on. I'm guessing that my folks lasting 'til their eighties is about what I can expect God willin' and the creeks don't rise... They never heard of any of this.

When I was in Italy visiting folks put Olive Oil on white rice. Olive oil went with balsamic on salads, never saw a Ranch or Russian or Bleu Cheese. And yet the French live well on rich sauces, butter, etc.

I do gotta avoid salt as along with EVERYthing else in foods, I'm one of the 23% that is salt sensitive. Retain waters and the BP goes up......lucky not to be like some who have high BP for no damn good reason.

Conflicting reports, eh?

Oh well. Gotta spend more time boat cookin' with beans, rice, salmon, tuna, small amounts of beef, turkey and so on in one pot meals.
