Bedside compass idea.

I've always thought that a small compass (like a hockey puck) you could set next to the bed and warn you if the boat changed directions more than you set the alarm at would be a good device. It could even be an Ipad application or perhaps a compass like yours that you could set a swing alarm on. As it is, even though you know the way the boat is pointing it doesn't wake you up to notify you. You have to wake up and look at it.

Something as simple as to set an alarm to go off if the boat changed heading more than 'say' 20 degrees (or whatever you set it at) either way. That way you would know if the wind shifted or if the current on a river changed directions due to tide or other. Every anchor alarm I know of tells you if you're outside the alarm zone but none tell you if your boat has changed directions but is still inside the alarm zone.

It would even notify you if the wind went dead and everyone is just floating around at anchor. There were many times I wish I had a simple device like that.

Anyone know of any? It's hard to believe It doesn't exist.
