Is one way. We have an full-function MFD in our berth. Long ago, when I became interested in sailing, I remember Bill Buckley describing how he had such a display on his boat when he first made an Atlantic crossing.
They used to make small, lighted compasses that could mounted overhead and viewed from below; but, I looked for one over the years and couldn't find any that were being made. Alas, simple magnetic compasses seem (even here), to be going the way of the Vikings or old :^))))).
If your boat has a NEMA 2000 system, you might be able to get a wireless interface and pull the data you want off a small display (or whatever). That way, if you're in a sea berth, instead of your normal "owner's" bed, you can move the display around.
