In daylight, with good visibility, I can sail a straight course without a compass

() It is when I can't see that I have problems. And you also could have sailed with a good electronic graphic compass - there isn't any difference as long as the compass update frequency is appropriate and the graphic display interface is useful.
If this was dropped in place of the mechanical one, would you have had difficulties steering?
