() Used to be classes offered through the local colleges and Power Squadron. Not anymore, to my knowledge. Might be different in your area, but throughout New England I met a lot of boaters who didn't know port from starboard. Why do you think they are having to license boat owners now in many states? And the licensing requires a test of (very) basic rules and navigation?
Kids around here don't drive stick shifts. Hell they don't drive at all - their parents drive them to and from school....
In a rural small town, things might be different. But nobody lives there anymore.

- Electronic navigation has surely drawn in more people who cannot be bothered with learning navigation though.

- I'll be looking for better integration of satelite image on chartware.
