"Are boaters better educated on the west coast?" No... 
In Response To: "Throughout New England I met a lot of boaters that didn't know Port from Starboard" ()
I guess in this context we need to ask why even stick to the anachronistic terms "port" and "starboard". Left and right works fine for everyone else. Airliners aren't told by the tower to "turn to port". Perhaps the 3rd most dangerous thing onboard is the anachronistic language?

- Electronic navigation has surely drawn in more people who cannot be bothered with learning navigation though.

- That's a bit extreme. The sailors that I've met in NE were.pretty knowledgable.

- I'll be looking for better integration of satelite image on chartware.
