My point is that if we used a much heavier CQR, it would have much greater holding. As for the "scientific" approach Vs "marketing" of Lawerence Simpson (now Lewmar) in sizing recommendations, I'm not too sure that's why the recommendations were generally published.
A whole lot of sailors have found the recommendations work.
I subscribe to the general approach of upsizing -- I lake a number of wives', and their tails (even if I can't spell so well) ;^))))
