everybody would be using the new gen anchors(as 99% do use e-navigation).
But while the new anchors are improved, they're still derived from a centuries old theory; a heavy metal shaped hook- claw - plow, that requires the additional weight of chain in front and long rodes to be effective.
You can still get that in a 100 year old fisherman style anchor, used correctly, despite the new gen hype. Unlike parallel rules and paper charts, I see CQR's, Bruces, Danforths, even Fishermen anchors(here in Me.) in use today and likely tomorrow.
The new generation anchors will dominate the new anchor industry for both price and performance. I'd buy one if I were looking for a replacement. I'd also consider changing my primary ground tackle if I were to change my MO of coastal sailing.
