CE does display radar,

But, I believe they sell radar systems and only support the ones they sell. I am not sure what units they sell. Here's a web site page with some info, including a question about using Nobeltec radar with CE.

Q: Can I use My Nobeltec radar with Coastal Explorer?

A: The answer in most cases is yes, however older Insight Radar units are not supported. The original Nobeltec radar units used RS 422 to communicate with the PC and also output a raster image format, rather than a scan line interface used today. If your Nobeltec radar uses Ethernet then it is supported in Coastal Explorer. In order to activate the radar features for usage with a Nobeltec (or other) scanner, users must purchase the Radar Add-on. The suggested retail price for the add-on is $399. It can be purchased directly from Rose Point, or one of their authorized resellers. The Nobeltec 2KW radars also use the old style communication and image format and are not supported. The Radar Add-on is not required for Rose Point ECS which includes the radar features.

BTW, for the record, I have no financial affiliation with CE. Just a very happy and satisfied user. I've been a member of their beta test team since I bought the product in 2004. So far, they have incorporated a couple of ideas I had submitted for the product.

So far, all updates have either been free or a nominal cost for materials. The 2009 was a major version change and my cost to get a complete new set of discs was $60. I could have just downloaded it free, but my CD set was so old that in order to install on a new computer, I would have had to install my CD, then Install the next major upgrade before finally installing this latest upgrade. I opted for the new CDs.

And, I think I mentioned before, the Day I bought the product, I was responsible for an update. The charts I had on my computer were newer than the ones they had shipped with the software. (I had been in the habit of downloading the latest S57 every week since I heard about the s57 project.)

Anyway, NOAA had changed something in their file format that hadn't filtered down to them yet. CE got right on it, figured out the problem through me sending in crash logs and got an update out the same day.
