... before paper charts, the hand held compass or the plotter. It's amazing how glued to the screen cruisers are in the Bahamas, my wife does it all the time, she'll never think the Plotter can be wrong. It's so easy to read the water there, I am always on the bow when it's shallow or in & out of Cuts. I've been in & out of Bimini lots, before and after they altered the channel, it can be weird going in and out of there, especially when there is current. And the plotter never tells you how you faring with or against the current. This is a good example of when someone has to be on the bow, someone who knows how to read the water ... when charts, paper or electronic, are secondary.
In the Bahamas, I try to navigate Cuts when I can see the bottom and when the current is slack. Otherwise, I generally don't.
