On a boat as small as mine, using a computer underway is asking for trouble, IMHO - I want to keep mine stowed away in a secure, dry spot whenever I'm sailing... Then there's the power issue, a laptop can draw a surprising amount, but of course most cruisers are motoring anyway, so... (grin)

This obsession with computer navigation continues to be a dangerous trend, however, for some folks I see out there.... Last winter in the Bahamas, I ran into more that one cruiser who admitted they carried NO paper charts aboard... UFB...
