Someday, the richest man in Cuba (or Miami, perhaps) will be the holder of the Sea-Tow franchise for Cuba....

Hi John,

Everyone thinks Cuba will be the next big thing for American cruisers someday, but I have my doubts... Sure, people will flock to Havana when the time eventually comes, but I think most cruisers spoiled by the accuracy of the Bahamian Explorer charts will have a rude awakening when they start venturing around Cuba. I've always heard the Cuban cartography is supposed to be so great, but I wasn't all that impressed... It's decent, indeed adequate, but nothing approaching the accuracy cruisers now enjoy for most of the Bahamas.... You'd better need to know how to read the water there, motoring from one waypoint to the next in poor light like so many people now do in the Bahamas isn't gonna cut it in Cuba once you get out in the boonies...

best regards,

Jon
