If year round summer weather is your primary concern, I don't think you'll like the east coast-any part. You guys have the closest thing to endless summer on the west coast. If you don't like the cold, you better love broiling moist heat for a few months, on this side.
My first priority is my street address. I've become pretty particular there, over the years(easy foot travel, little car use, village setting), but that means it's not a cheap area to live(I bought the worst home in the neighborhood ).
This is the only place we've lived that we don't travel to the boat. It was usually an hour away, then for a few years, 6 to 8 hours away, and for a few seasons, several states away. That's a good way to pack a lot of cruising time in without the moving your boat constantly.
Can't you downsize to outside of the more expensive metro area, Gene, and retire? Then could you move your boat to a new sailing area for a season or so?
