We retired from PA to MD
In Response To: It's what, 200 nm to the lower end of the Bay. ()
Didn't notice too much of a tax hit - more on some kinds of income but (on the Eastern Shore at least) lower property values and much lower real estate taxes BUT they do nickel and dime you to death and right now there's a bunch of white stuff on the ground and 8in. more predicted over the next couple of days. Somehow we had the wisdom to bail out in mid-Jan. - took the travel trailer and the kayaks to Florida.

- With a 4 ft draft, a tolerance of a little heat and some Mosquitos, you could spend years exploring the Chesapeake.

- Some interesting waters in and around Oriental...
- Great place!
- Live in Oriental or nearby or? I looked at real estate in the area last evening for amusement.
- and concluded what?
- Not much. Lots seem really cheap, some waterfront available to build. Built waterfront not so cheap but.....
- There's no substitute for going there
- Or too hot and muggy...
- San Diego has a lot more going for it
- Indeed San Diego IS a wonderful area...
- Shovel?
- You folks in snow areas are having a particularly bad year too...
- Everyplace is a compromise
- Affordable, interesting, high quality of life, great weather, world class sailing ground, easy....
- And, take advantage of your high realestate value, rent your home.
- This has been a consideration for a long time...
