Jus-thinkin' hypothetically..... we could do something like this, maybe...
If we were to take a trip to the Chesapeake and commuter-cruise from the NY metro area for the summer.... Let's say 1 week down, one week back, and two separate (or contiguous) weeks to see the best harbors and gunk-holes, (leaving the boat on a guest mooring in-between) where would you go? Would it be too ambitious (weather permitting) to go down the outside of the Delmarva and stop in Ocean City instead of taking the Delaware and Ches/Delaware Canal? (Done that and the lower Delaware wasn't fun).
What about leaving a car and taking public transportation back to it at the start/end of each "commute" trip? Is it even a practical idea? Maybe use Baltimore or Annapolis (or someplace on the Eastern shore) as a jumping off point for a week at a time and come back to the same place at the end of the week? We could use Amtrak or one-way car rental to start or end the long "get there and back" trips.
I'd be interested in a variety of harbors, from gunk holes to major stops like Annapolis and Baltimore. But also smaller towns that have character and charm, or museums/cultural points of interest (e.g. festivals, events, and historic sites/tours).
(BTW I was very impressed this last summer with the Connecticut River Museum in Essex CT. If you visit it's worth spending 2 - 4 hours.)
