I was just laid off in a general cut back that included 34 people... the company has not been doing well (major upper management issues, including insider trading...).
I should probably have left many months ago when I first noticed "the handwriting on the wall..." but the local opportunities are rather limited... I did a couple of interviews and nothing panned out so I figured I'd just ride it out. So looks like I'll be doing temp work for a while or looking into a move much much sooner than I was ready for.
The really ironic thing is that as I sat in a local pub last evening, sharing my woes with other former co-workers, I get a call from my recent ex-boss... he wants to know if I am available for contract work... to finish the tasks that I was working on. Upper Management was so clueless they had no idea who they chopped... and now they are in a bind. I love the irony, but just not sure I want to do them the "favor," other than it is good to have cash flow.
Hey, at least I have time to work on the boat now. GRIN
