All of the major harbors around here allow people to own their own mooring gear and pay a small annual fee to the town. Same thing for dinghy space (another small charge).

This saves the usual dockage or mooring rental to a marina that many more boaters south of here have to pay. That charge can be quite high depending on where you keep the boat.
