We have certain costs like insurance, routine maintenance, registration/moorage, club dues, and hauling that are pretty much the same every year. But each year, the skipper takes on some project that adds to the cost, or we might buy a new sail or something. But yeah, you don't want to add it all up or else you get bummed.
I suspect our costs are considerably less than others because we can keep her at the house in the wintertime, we can step/unstep the mast ourselves, and our mooring/YC expenses are far less than a lot of people here pay for a slip. And with her value less than $20K, insurance is not nearly what some people here might pay.
BTW, TomY, our town offers little in the way of public access. There is a town dock, but there's hardly any parking and the clammers have pretty much monopolized the dinghy dock with their 14' skiffs with 25+ HP motors. We get our access/parking/dinghy tie through our YC which, thankfully, is reasonably priced compared to some others. Just a basic clubhouse, parking lot, and dinghy tie area -- no bar, dining room, or other unnecessary facilities.
