You're making the wrong generalizations

Windward performance is not Cat or Multi vs. Mono....

It's mostly about keel depth and foil shape (high lift high aspect vs. low lift low aspect) and sheeting angles.

My boat's sheeting angles are close to centerline, and the 4-foot centerboard gives windward performance angles similar to most mono "performance-cruisers". In the picture below you can see that we normally reach with sheet barberhauled-out. The sheet block is within about 3 feet of the centerline.

It would be interesting to see how quickly I'd leave a J133 in my wake.
