() In that case your apparent wind angle is 20 deg or a bit less, and boat speed is a multiple of wind speed (2 or 3). Best windward is with a course about 60 deg off the true wind, and your VMG is greater than the wind speed.
Another application of the same math is in tacking against or with a current - whether to pinch or fall off in either case.
