If I get this right? They hit something first (a way out), at that moment (before they slammed into the reef) maybe they could have come hard to starboard on a crash tack?
Pretty gruesome. For the many of us that have been in crash (car, bike, boat, skis, etc.), it's just painful to watch.
I agree John, NO ONE seems to have a clew. Early in the video, the guy who is pulling up his straps on the his bibs (on the port side of the cockpit) seems to look out -- like he heard the surf?

- I can see that happening. I had to zoom out to 90 NM for those islands to disappear on an ipad.
