"the simple failure to zoom in sufficiently was the cause"

Zooming is NOT the simple failure, not to me. But I allow it is for you.

But these guys are young techies, working on large screens, several. I notice the shot above is scaled to 20KM on the lower edge. On a small ipad, 20km scale covers 370km of chart area from Yarmouth NS to Cape Cod. On a larger laptop or plotter screen they likely have, the chart area could be twice the size, hundreds of nautical miles.

Why would a boat that is racing navigate at that scale? Why all screens at that scale? What about smaller boat direction details-lifts-headers- that would show on the tracking?

On my ipad, there is no information at this scale. I know that.
