If the grounding had been intentional by the owner, maybe. Insurance covers mistakes and stupidity -- even recklessness, to all but all but the most extreme levels.
I think it's just gross embarassment and personal senses of culpability. Who wants history reflect on you as "Wrong Way Riegels".

While I think that in some cases confessional and disclosure is necessary and inevitable -- that's easier said than done in the real world. People writing on the Internet (myself included) should probably be very retrospective about what they say which can't be taken-back when published.
