A $1K chart plotter at the helm running at high zoom with free charts would have saved the boat. Or even an iPhone with a $10 charting program. Still the most amazing thing is the knowledge that you are on a very shallow shelf in the middle of a very deep ocean, and no one double checks anything. We all make mistakes - this one happens to be particularly expensive and public.
