Zoomed out showing the entire world (like your globe). The reef and islands are clearly visible, and remain that way on all zoom levels. It is possible that they had some other version of electronic charts, but for CMAP this certainly isn't the case. Someone else showed Navionics charts with similar visibility.

The photos of their actual chartplotter that you posted show that reef clear as day.

The electronic chart and zooming thing is a red herring. If they missed it on electronic versions, they would have missed it on paper.

If they were intentionally attempting to cut that area close to gain some time, and were lulled by other boats lights and positions, a paper chart would have been pretty useless also.
