all have Raster and Electronic (a/k/a vector chart or) map format options -- if those charts are available.
The zooming on electronic charts zooming isn't the same as an AutoCAD (or other) drawing. The screen resolution, graphic accelerator and memory, and processor speed really make it tough to deal with the variable text, notation information while keeping the file size within balance.
The ability to change the colors schemes and filter what information is displayed on electronic charts is very helpful. While I generally stick with the familiar color scheme of the NOAA charts that I'm used to. There are color schemes that some of my guests aboard have pointed-out are easier for them to see in low-light situations. These charts are getting better and better.
I, like you, tend to use Raster Charts on some screen shots. I certainly study both were available. On some displays, I will have one "window" overlaid on raster charts while others with an electronic/vector chart.
