I posted this more in response to the statement "The latest SAIL magazine has a feature on the "12 Top Bluewater Boats based solely on their popularity in all of the rallies run by the World Cruising Club." It just hit me wrong, I felt it was saying only TOP Bluewater boats do rallies so I thought I would turn it around by saying "Would a true Bluewater Boat be doing a rallie? ". Thinking about this post I think it was the word top that set me off thinking it meant "the 12 best" and not most "popular". I also do not have a high opinion of Rallies, I think of them as new sailors to long distance sailing and not sure what a boat should be, I know there is more to it then that. That feeling come from seeing the Baja HaHa come down in to the sea for the last 6 years. It only take about 10% of them to give the whole fleet the reputation.
After all what is a Blue water boat anyway. I took a Catalina 30 from the West Coast thru the Canal and up the East Coast so I guess I could say it is a blue water boat (NOT).
I should think more before I post.
