It is a very valid concern. While the deepest part of the hull may be the lowest point on a straight horizontal line (not counting the daggerboards), it's so close that grounding will cause damage. I suppose a very quiet settling into mud or sand without any wave action might work if the tide is doing the job but for all practical considerations, I'd expect probable damage. I did put the daggerboards in a position where they extended 8-10" below the hull when motoring in 'questionable' depths, i.e. ICW and Bahamas.
The Maine coast with it's 'colorful' flotsam was a bigger concern---six (6) appendages all reaching out trying to grab things!
